Canine cop helps Kilkenny gardai to sniff out cannabis ‘grow-house’

A CRACK canine cop helped Kilkenny gardai to sniff out a cannabis ‘grow-house’ just over the county border in Tipperary.

Just over €40,000 worth of cannabis plants were discovered in the raid on the premises in Mallinahone, along with €1,200 of cannabis herb.

The planned raid involved members of the Kilkenny Detective Unit backed by the Garda Dog Unit.

One man was arrested in connection with the seizure. He was taken to Kilkenny Garda Station where he was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

The drugs bust was one of 16 searches carried out at various addresses across the city and county over the past two days as part of the ongoing Garda Operation Thor.

Gardai seized controlled drugs to the value of €31,000 in the other raids.

Thirty people were arrested as part of the Garda operation. Twelve of these have been charged with various crimes.
