KILKENNY will be hotter than Barcelona and Milan this weekend as temperatures soar across the country.

After a beautifully mild St Valentine’s Day yesterday, today will see the mercury levels rise to highs of up to 15 degrees.

Met Éireann has forecast “very mild” conditions over the weekend, accompanied by sunshine and largely dry spells.

The Met Office, meanwhile, has predicted temperatures will only reach 13 degrees in Barcelona across the weekend, while the mercury will rise to just 11C in Milan on Saturday and Sunday.

Met Éireann said today will be “very mild for February”, with highest temperatures of 12C to 15C.

It added: “Patchy outbreaks of rain across the west and north of the country overnight but largely dry elsewhere.”
