Car set ablaze in busy residential area of Kilkenny city

An investigation has been launched after a car was set alight overnight in a busy residential area of Kilkenny city.

A red Audi car was set alight at around 3.15am this morning on Cypress Avenue in the city.

The fire brigade was called to put out the blazing car in the residential cul-de-sac in the centre of Kilkenny city.

Gardai have launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They are also appealing for anyone who may have mobile or CCTV footage in the area to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
