Cody’s Cats hot favourite for Leinster crown, but Munster counties tipped for All-Ireland glory

Kilkenny will go into this weekend’s provincial decider with Dublin as hot favourites to win the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship.

But despite the favourites tag in the east, the Cats are just third favourite to win the Liam McCarthy Cup  at the end of August, with the Munster final pairing of Limerick and Tipperary ahead of them in the betting.

The Cats are at 1/3 to beat shock finalist Dublin who were impressive in overcoming Galway in the provincial semi-final, while Kilkenny eventually saw off Wexford’s challenge in an extra time classic at Croke Park two weeks ago.

Dublin can be got at 9/4 to pick up their first Leinster title since 2013.

Limerick still head the betting for the All-Ireland following a classy win over Cork in the Munster semi-final. They meet Clare’s conquerors Tipperary this Sunday in the Munster decider.

The Treaty county are as low as 3/10 to win the Munster and 10/11 to win the All-Ireland. Tipp are at 9/2 second favourites, with Kilkenny 6/1 third favourites.

BoyleSports spokesperson Lawrence Lyons said: “We may get some major clues this weekend as to who has the credentials to go all the way and Kilkenny are one of those coming in for support to mount an All-Ireland challenge.

“They are the most popular pick outside of the two Munster finalists, although Limerick are retaining a strong grip on favouritism after closing into 5/6 from 10/11 this week.”
