Class news as Kilkenny school gets green light to build major new extension
A Kilkenny national school has been granted approval to build a major new extension that will significantly enhance its existing facilities.
The Board of Management of Our Lady of Lourdes National School in Slieverue applied to Kilkenny County Council in August for permission to build a large extension onto the existing school building.
After considering the proposal, the local authority has given the project the green light for the school to build its new extension.
A new single storey extension will be built consisting of a new classroom, two new resource rooms, one new assisted user toilet and a new link corridor to the existing building.
The works will also see the conversion of an existing classroom into two new offices for administrative purposes.
The mixed-gender school in the South Kilkenny village currently caters for around 225 students.
