County Kilkenny school gets green light to build much-needed extension
A primary school in county Kilkenny has been granted permission to build an extension which will provide the school with a new classroom and a special education teaching room.
Kilkenny County Council recently confirmed it has given the green light to the Board of Management at Scoil Naisiunta Moin Ruadh in Lismateige, Hugginstown, to proceed with plans to build the extension.
The school currently has just two classrooms. The extension will see the size of the school increase by more than 50%, from 258sq mts to 392sq mts.
The approved application will now see the creation of a single storey extension to the existing main school building comprising of one additional mainstream classroom, and S.E.T. support room, new bathrooms, and all associated site works.
The school currently caters for just over 50 children in their junior cycle, both boys and girls.
