COVID-19 UPDATE: A further 126 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Republic

Another 126 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland, the Department of Health said this evening.

There are now 683 confirmed cases of the virus here while three people have died from the disease.

Of those, 12 people have admitted to intensive care units while 140 people in total were admitted to hospital.

“Now is not the time for complacency,” Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said this evening.

“Every citizen who is practicing social distancing, who is taking precautions to limit the spread of this virus, is doing their country a service.”

Meanwhile earlier today, the UK announced that cafes, pubs and restaurants are to close tonight and to stay shut indefinitely.
