Crime-busting canine sniffs out drugs destined for Kilkenny at mail centre
Drugs destined for the Kilkenny market have been uncovered at a national mail centre by a customs sniffer dog.
More than €38,000 worth of illegal substances were seized at Athlone mail centre in county Westmeath after Bailey (pictured) the sniffer dog rooted them out.
The canny canine discovered 1.5kg of herbal cannabis, ketamine, heroin, meth, MDMA and crack cocaine in a number of parcels received from the UK, US and Spain.
The packages the drugs were found in were marked as being t-shirts, phone cases and bicycle gloves.
The drugs were addressed to be delivered to Kilkenny, as well as Dublin, Meath, Wicklow, Kildare, Louth, Galway, and Sligo.
Investigations into the discoveries undertaken by Revenue are ongoing.
