Good news for Kilkenny soliders as Defence Forces get pay rise
By COLIN BARTLEY
MEMBERS of the Defence Forces from Kilkenny and soldiers serving in our local James Stephen’s Barracks will see an increase in their take home pay as of today.
The financial boost comes as part of a €10m remuneration package for the defence forces agreed by the Government.
The increases will focus on allowances rather than members core pay, including a 10% increase in the military service allowance, which ranges from €42 to €123 per week.
Naval personnel will also receive an allowance of €48 per day for patrol duty, while members of the Air Corps will see the service commitment scheme return, worth up to €20,000 per annum.
