€10,000 of cannabis and large stash of cash seized after car with no tax or NCT stopped in Kilkenny

Gardai seized €10,000 worth of cannabis after they stopped a car at a checkpoint in Kilkenny that had no tax or NCT.

A local Garda spokesperson said the vehicle was searched by officers conduting an Operation Thor “anti crime” checkpoint on the Tullaroan Road last night.

Two occupants of the car were arrested at the scene after officers discovered €7,500 of cannabis in the vehicle.

A further €2,500 of cannabis and “a significant amount of cash” was also seized during a follow-up search of a house in Kilkenny city.

Both suspects have been detained under Section 2 Drug Trafficking Act.
