Man (36) killed in road tragedy near New Ross

The remains of a man who was killed in a road collision on the N25 not far from the border with county Kilkenny have been removed to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) for a post mortem examination.
The tragedy occurred on the N25 at Portersland near New Ross at around 9.50pm last night.
A Garda spokesperson said this morning: “A 36-year-old male pedestrian was injured when he was struck by a car. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the car was unharmed.”
The scene is currently preserved for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. The road at the crash site is closed and ocal traffic diversions are in place.
The local coroner has been notified and arrangements are being made for a post mortem examination.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward. They are particularly urging road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who used the route at the time to contact them.
