Drink driver arrested after driving the wrong way on Kilkenny motorway

A suspected drink driver was arrested after he was caught driving the wrong way on a Kilkenny motorway.

The incident occurred on a local stretch of the M9 in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A local Garda spokesperson confirmed the motorist was “driving southbound on the northbound lane of M9” before they were intercepted by gardaí in Kilkenny, with the assistance of motorway maintenance.

The spokesperson added: “Driver arrested on suspicion of drink driving. Results of specimen are awaited. #Neverdrivewhileintoxicated.”
