Drunk burglar arrested after botched break-in at county Kilkenny pharmacy
A YOUNG man was discovered in an intoxicated state after he attempted to break into a county Kilkenny pharmacy.
The incident occurred in Goresbridge in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A member of the public contacted gardai after hearing a commotion on the street near the pharmacy.
Gardai arrived at the scene to discover windows at the front and back of the premises had been smashed. But there was no evidence that the burglar had actually gained entry to the pharmacy.
Gardai carried out a search of the area and a short time later they found the suspect, who had blood on his hands and was in an intoxicated state.
The 22-year-old was arrested and taken to Thomastown Garda Station for questioning.
Kilkenny gardai confirmed he was charged with criminal damage and trespass under the Public Order Act.
He is due to appear before Kilkenny District Court on April 16.
