FOG ALERT: Kilkenny included in new Status Orange weather warning

KILKENNY motorists have been urged to drive with extreme caution this morning as a thick blanket of fog hangs over the county, making conditions treacherous.

Kilkenny is one of 18 counties included in a Status Orange weather warning issued by Met Éireann last night. Neighbouring Carlow, Waterford, Wexford and Tipperary have also been included in the alert.

The warning is valid until 8am this morning.

Met Éireann warned: “Mist will thicken into fog overnight and will be dense at times.”

The forecast is also set to bring rain along with cloud as temperatures drop to a low of 3 degrees celcius.

The national forecaster added: “Misty and mostly cloudy overnight. Some rain at times, mainly across parts of Leinster, south Ulster and north Connacht.

“Elsewhere a mix of cloud and clear spells, with just a few patches of drizzle. Fog will form, mainly over the southern half of the country and will be dense in places. Lows of 3 to 7 C., in light to moderate easterly breezes.”
