€1m Kilkenny site with potential for 100-room hotel put on market
A city-centre site close to Kilkenny’s transport hub and MacDonagh Junction Shopping centre has gone on the market with a €1 million plus price tag.
The selling agents of the 0.66 hectare site located between Michael Street and Wolfe Tone Street say it has planning potential for a 106 bedroom hotel.
The site is where the former Ormonde Tourist Hostel is located and the land is zoned ‘general business.’
The land is being sold by agents CBRE and Bagnall Doyle MacMahon who say a feasibility study shows potential for the huge hotel development, including with conference and banqueting facilities.
In 2008, planning was granted for a 108 bedroom hotel on the same site but this permission has since lapsed.
