REVEALED: How to beat Dylan & Young gig chaos as 28,000 descend on city

By COLIN BARTLEY

GARDAI hope to limit the disruptions this Sunday in and around Nowlan Park by implementing traffic management measures to deal with the 28,000 fans in town for the Dylan & Young gig.

Road closures will begin at 7 am on the Hebron Road and O’ Loughlin Road, down to the junction at the O’Loughlin road roundabout at Nowlan Park.

Residents will be allowed access if they bring an ID with proof of address and a detour around the area will be routed via Pennyfeather, Hebron Road and Ballybough Street.

Coaches and taxis will be directed to MacDonagh Train Station to drop off and collect fans, with punters then having to walk the short distance to the stadium from there.

Three carparks are provided for those driving to the gig and are located at St Canice’s Hospital (YELLOW CAR PARK); St James’s Park (RED CAR PARK); Orchard Bar (BLUE CAR PARK).

The YELLOW CAR PARK will take all cars coming in on the M9 and N10, and also traffic from Carlow on the R712.

The BLUE CAR PARK will take the traffic coming from the Castlecomer Road – the N77, while the RED CAR PARK will accommodate traffic coming off the M8 and onto Freshford Road, R693.

Further parking is available at:

  • MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre
  • Market Cross Shopping Centre
  • Market Yard public car park

Restrictions on public parking in the city will start at noon.
