Edward’s Tasty Tapas: the home cooking class that will bring Spain to your kitchen

Lockdowns have put home dining on everyone’s menu – not just eating at home, but cooking at home. As cooking-in became the new going-out, people discovered it could be great fun and looked to improve their culinary skills.

Virtual cooking has proved a big hit. You buy a nice bottle of wine, try on a funny apron and learn new techniques and recipes from  the best of chefs.

And they don’t come better than Edward Hayden, famed for his  cookery slots on Virgin Media’s Ireland AM and his weekly radio show, on KCLR96fm.

Edward, who is also a culinary lecturer in Waterford Institute of Technology, and proprietor of The Edward Hayden School of Cookery in his native Graignamanagh, hosts a wide range of recreational cookery classes for home cooks of all levels.

For cooking that’s fun and food that’s a delight it’s hard to beat Edward’s Tasty Tapas. His online sessions will show you how to create the perfect little  mix and  match  dishes that will bring the taste of Spain into your own kitchen.

The Zoom sessions are  billed as ‘cook along or watch’.

“I will be showing you how to put together a tasty tapas evening at home with lots of gorgeous recipes on the menu,” explains Edward. “You can either cook along with me or watch and try out the recipes at a later stage.”Edward will advise guests in advance about the ingredients needed and Zoom link required. At the start of the demo he  will introduce the dishes he plans to make from his Kilkenny kitchen.

You can learn how to make Spanish-inspired tapas for a tapas evening or tasty light bites and finger food to serve with drinks for when casual get-togethers at home become an option again.

If guests have the ingredients ready they can cook along with Edward, or they can just watch, listen and recreate the dishes next time they feel in the mood for tapas – which could be  very soon, once you have tried this lovely food.

The next Tasty Tapas Zoom session is this evening (Thursday, April 29) at 7.30pm  and there is another at the same time on Thursday, May 13. The cost is just €25 and you can book at 087-7763312 or by emailing info@edwardhayden.ie
