Final countdown to nominate local ‘superheroes’ for Garda Youth Awards
IT’S the final countdown for applications for the inaugural Kilkenny-Carlow Garda Youth Awards.
Community leaders, teachers, sports coaches and parents are being urged to nominate young people who are making a positive contribution to their communities.
But the clock is ticking on the closing date for nominations, which must be entered by the May 31 deadline.
Garda Crime Prevention Officer Peter McConnon said there is “no better way to endorse the great work and achievements of the young people in our communities of Kilkenny and Carlow”.
Hurling legend Henry Shefflin and RTÉ journalist Evanne Ní Chuilinn (pictured above with Netwatch CEO David Walsh) earlier launched the awards, which will recognise the “outstanding contribution” young people between the ages of 13 and 21 are making to communities across Kilkenny and Carlow.
The awards event will take place in early November. The winners of four individual categories will then go forward for a national awards ceremony planned for next year.
