Four jailed for helping to cover-up horrific murder of Kilkenny grandmother
Four people have been jailed for between 18 months and three years for their roles in cover up of the murder of 61-year-old Kilkenny grandmother Patricia O’Connor.
Her daughter’s partner, Kieran Greene, has already been sentenced to life in prison for her murder.
Mrs O’Connor’s husband Gus, her daughter Louise, her granddaughter Stephanie and Stephanie’s father, were sentenced this morning for impeding Greene’s apprehension or prosecution.
Patricia O’Connor was murdered by Greene in the bathroom of her home at Mountainview Park in Rathfarnham on May 29, 2017. He was found guilty of inflicting horrific head injuries on her in a sustained attack.
The grandmother’s lifeless body was dismembered and scattered around the Wicklow Mountains where it was found in 15 different parts over nine locations.
Mrs O’Connor’s husband Gus (76) pleaded guilty just before the trial began to reporting his wife missing on June 1, 2017, knowing she was already dead.
Her daughter, Louise and granddaughter, Stephanie, were found guilty by a jury of agreeing a plan to disguise Stephanie as her grandmother, for CCTV cameras, to pretend she had stormed out of the house, when they knew she was dead.
