Gang of five masked men break into house on Kilkenny border

Gardai are on the hunt for a burglary gang who could be using fake plates in an effort to avoid detection.

A house close to the Kilkenny border was targeted by the gang yesterday morning.

The gang of up to five men in a black Audi A4 broke into a house near Mullinahone on the Tipperary border between 10.30am and 12pm yesterday.

The gang forced their way into the house which was empty at the time and made off with a number of items. They were seen fleeing the area in the car which had 10-CE (Clare) registration plates on it at the time.

There have been further reports of other incidents between the Kilkenny border and Cashel in Tipperary where a similar Audi A4 car containing five men drove into house driveways in that area yesterday but were displaying WX (Wexford) plates at the time.

Anyone with information on the break-in near Mullinahone are asked to contact gardai in Clonmel on 052 617 7640 or if anyone notices anything suspicious to contact their local Garda Station.
