New technology helps Kilkenny gardai to take more banned drivers off our roads

Kilkenny gardai have took another two disqualified drivers off the county’s roads, thanks to new technology at their disposal.

Two drivers who are banned from driving were discovered on our roads this week. Their cars have been confiscated and court appearances to follow.

In the latest incident on Thursday evening, Gardaí from Unit C in Kilkenny City  were following a car as it drove past the station.

Using the recently released Garda Mobility device, they performed a check on the silver Mazda, which returned a warning flag stating the driver is disqualified.

The car was pulled over and the driver, a man, was arrested. He is due to appear before an upcoming sitting of Kilkenny District Court.

His vehicle was impounded under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act.

Earlier in the week, Kilkenny Roads Policing unit were on duty in Ballyragget as part of Operation Lifesaver.

Gardai became aware of a car and found the driver has recently been disqualified from driving for four years. The driver was arrested, and the car taken away.

This driver is also due to appear before an upcoming sitting of Kilkenny District Court.
