KILKENNY WEATHER: Met Éireann warns another big change on the way
Kilkenny can expect another turn in the weather from tomorrow as late April showers put a dampener on the beautiful spring heatwave we’ve enjoyed in recent days.
On a brighter note, Met Éireann said today will again be dry and sunny to begin with, with just “a little cloud at times turning the sunshine hazier”.
But the forecaster added: “During the afternoon, thickening cloud will push in from the north with some showery rain developing over Ulster and north Connacht towards evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees generally, cooler in all coastal areas. Winds will become northwesterly during the afternoon and increase moderate to fresh.”
Tomorrow will initially bring a mix of cloud and sunny spells, mainly over the northern half of the country later in the morning before becoming more widespread in the afternoon. Met Éireann added: “The showers will turn heavy at times with the risk of hail and isolated thunderstorm. A cooler day than recent, with highest temperatures of just 11to 14 degrees in light to moderate northerly winds, fresh along Atlantic coasts.”
Wednesday will be a cool day with some sunny spells and scattered showers and highest temperatures of between 9 to 13 degrees.
Thursday will be sunny to start with, but widespread showers are expected to develop through the middle of the day. The naitonal forecaster also said there will be “a risk of hail and isolated thunderstorm through the afternoon and evening hours”, adding: “Cool again with highest temperatures of just 9 to 11 degrees in light northerly or variable breezes, falling calm a times.”
Friday will start off brightly, but scattered showers will develop again, although they are not expected to be as heavy or widespread as the previous day with highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.
Met Éireann said early indications suggest next weekend “will remain similar with afternoon showers developing”. Daytime temperatures will recover slightly, but will still remain below average for the time of year.
