Thousands of euros worth of tools stolen in spate of work van thefts across Kilkenny
Gardai have issued some tips to work van driver following a spate of break-ins across Kilkenny.
Several vans were targeted in the city in recent days, along with other similar incidents in Ballyragget and Graiguenamanagh. Thousands of euros worth of power tools were stolen from the vehicles.
One-in-every-four thefts of work tools happen when the vehicle is parked up outside the owner’s house. And half of these of these incidents occur between 12am and 7am.
A local Garda spokesperson said: “We have had a number of reported incidents of break into vehicles recently and in particular the targeting of work vans containing power tools.
“Consider removing the tools from vehicles overnight to keep them in secure locations, and/or fitting an additional lock on the vehicle door. Insure the vehicles are locked and parked in well lit areas and do not leave anything on display.
“All thefts and break-ins of vehicles should be reported to the gardai.”
