Gardaí seize lethal fireworks from children at Kilkenny supermarket car park

Gardaí in Kilkenny have urged people to be aware of the dangers of fireworks in the countdown to Halloween.

The appeal came as gardaí confiscated potentially lethal fireworks from children “in a supermarket car park”.

A local Garda spokesperson said, on this occasion, there were “no hand or eye injuries” and “no terrified pets”.

But they warned: “Unfortunately somewhere else at some other time the consequences will be more severe.”

Gardaí stressed fireworks are illegal, and warned: “More than that – in the wrong hands they are dangerous.”
