Hapless Kilkenny restaurant thief couldn’t cut the mustard
By COLIN BARTLEY
A HAPLESS burglar who attempted to break into a restaurant in Kilkenny city-centre was forced to flee the scene after he was rumbled.
Now local gardai are seeking the public’s help in identifying the culprit behind the botched break-in, which occurred at a well-known restaurant on John Street at around 3.10am on Thursday.
Some residents living nearby were woken by noises and banging outside the building on the street. They spotted a man wearing dark clothes on John Street trying to gain access to the restaurant. Once the man saw he had been spotted he fled the scene.
Kilkenny gardai confirmed he did not succeed in gaining access to the restaurant and nothing was stolen.
Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area at the time is urged to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
