High on cocaine and cannabis and no tax or insurance: L-driver arrested in county Kilkenny

A learner motorist was arrested after he was caught driving high on cocaine and cannabis in county Kilkenny in the early hours of this morning.

The driver was also found to be driving without any tax or insurance when he was stopped in Callan by gardai on a Covid-19 patrol.

A local Garda spokesperson confirmed: “The vehicle was not taxed and had no insurance displayed. The driver tested positive for cocaine and cannabis. He was arrested and a blood sample was taken for analysis.”

The vehicle was seized under section 41 of the Road Traffic Act.

The suspect is due to appear in court soon.
