Huge power outage sees more than 1600 homes without electricity in county Kilkenny

Close to 1650 homes in north county Kilkenny are without power this morning.

A power outage was discovered at a sub-station in Ballyragget shortly before 9am this morning.

ESB crews are on the scene and the national power supplier is working to rectify the situation.

ESB Networks say 1645 customers are affected by the outage and have apologised for the loss of service.

A statement on their webpage reads: “We apologise for the loss of supply.

“We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible,” it concluded.

ESB expects to have the fault remedied by 12.30pm this afternoon.
