Thieves distract shopper in Kilkenny before stealing her purse

A woman had her purse stolen in a Kilkenny shop after she was distraced by another man who approached her.

The theft occurred at a shop in Deansground at 3.30pm on Wednesday.

A local Garda spokesperson confirmed the woman was doing her shopping and had her purse in the trolley when a man approached her. As he distracted her, another thief took her purse from the trolley and ran off.

A similar theft occurred at a supermarket in Carlow earlier the same day.
