Major road outside Kilkenny city closed for two days as ‘urgent tree pruning’ works get underway

ONE of the main roads leading into Kilkenny city will be closed to traffic tomorrow and Thursday as “urgent tree pruning works” get underway.

Kilkenny County Council has confirmed the R700 Kilkenny to Bennettsbridge road will be closed to traffic, from the Kilkenny Ring Road Roundabout to the Annamult Road in Bennesttsbridge, from 9.30am to 4.30pm tomorrow and Thursday.

The council said: “Detour routes will be signed. Local vehicular access will be facilitated, where possible, but there will be no capacity for through traffic along the R700 at Sheastown while the pruning works are being undertaken.”
