Investigation launched into ‘unexplained circumstances’ surrounding the death of an infant
An investigation has been launched into “unexplained circumstances” surrounding the death of an infant in Waterford yesterday afternoon.
The infant died following an incident at a “domestic premises” in Waterford city at around 2pm on Tuesday, February 18.
The body of the child has been removed to Dublin where a post-mortem will take place this afternoon. Following the results of the post-mortem, Gardai will decide upon which course to take the investigation.
A gardai spokesperson told WaterfordNow.ie: “Gardaí are investigating the death of an infant in unexplained circumstances at a domestic premises in Waterford which occurred on Tuesday, February 18 at approximately 2pm.”
“A post-mortem is due to be carried out and this will determine the course of the investigation.”
