That’s the jab! One million people in Kilkenny and across country get first vaccine

A major milestone in the battle against Covid-19 has been reached following the announcement that one million people across the country have received the first dose of the vaccine.

The Department of Health made the announcement this morning that 1,014,614 have received their first vaccine, while a further 403,302 people have now received two doses.

The breakdown shows that the Pfizer vaccine has been administered 1,038,800 times between first and second doses, 66, 618 doses of the Moderna vaccine has been given out, and 312, 524 doses of AstraZeneca.

The Department of Health also confirmed this morning that 1,715,400 vaccines have been delivered up until the evening of Sunday, April 25.

A department spokesperson said: “Currently, about 95% of available vaccines are administered within seven days of arrival in Ireland.”
