Keep under wraps as more rain, thunder and lightening are forecast

DON’T go outside without your umbrella this morning – widespread showers are forecast for Kilkenny and the rest of the country.

Met Éireann has also warned there is a possibility of thunder and lightning in parts of the country.

Today will start off quite wet, but the clouds should clear throughout the day, even allowing for some spells of sunshine in parts.

It will be cool but slightly milder than recent days. Top temperatures are not expected to rise above 9C.

A Met Éireann spokesperson said: “Widespread showers early today, some with thunder, but the showers will largely die out during the morning and sunny spells will develop.

“Later in the day showers will return on south coasts. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees. Moderate easterly winds will be fresh to strong along the south coast.”

Nationally, tonight should remain mostly dry, however the south of the country will experience some heavy rainfall at times.

Lowest temperatures shouldn’t dip below 2C, making it the mildest night of the week.

The national forecaster expects the weekend to get a little colder.

More heavy showers are forecast for tomorrow, but Saturday and Sunday should be lot drier than previous days.
