Burst main leaves Kilkenny city residents and businesses temporarily without water
SOME Kilkenny residents and businesses had their water supplies switched off today after a mains burst, Kilkenny County Council has confirmed.
Homes and businesses in the Rothe Terrace and Kennyswell Road areas were affected.
Water supplies in these areas were temporarily cut off at 11am, but a council spokesperson said normal services would resume by 2pm.
“Irish Water and Kilkenny County Council apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the spokesperson added.
On Monday Irish Water commenced major works in the city that will disrupt supplies at different times over the next five month.
Mark O’Duffy, Network Programme Lead for Irish Water said: “We would like to thank the local community and local businesses for their patience and understanding while these essential works take place. These works will benefit homes and businesses in Kilkenny city and will ensure the future safety and secure supply of water for the area. We would also like to thank Kilkenny County Council and our contracting partners Coffey Northumbrian Ltd (CNL) for their support and collaboration on this project.”
