Kilkenny farmers can apply for renewable energy funding for first time under TAMS scheme

SUPPORTS for on-farm renewable energy measures are to be included under the latest tranche of the Targeted Agricultural Measures Scheme (TAMS) for the first time, Kilkenny TD and junior minister John Paul Phelan has confirmed.

The €10 million scheme is open to applicants from now until early July.

Minister Phelan said over 2,250 applications were received for the last tranche of the scheme.

The Kilkenny TD (pictured below) added: “I’ve been in touch with Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Michael Creed who has confirmed very encouraging farmer support for the scheme. There’s great interest in the programme and over €121.7 million has been paid out to farmers so far under the Scheme with weekly payments currently averaging over €1.5 million.”
