Kilkenny Group expands shop and restaurant empire with Kerry acquisition
THE Kilkenny Group has sealed a deal to buy a restaurant and shop in Kerry, making it the group’s 17th outlet.
The luxury goods company announced it has agreed to acquire Sammy’s Restaurant and Retail Store in Inch.
Kilkenny said the business, which employs 12 people, is “a popular destination for locals and international visitors”.
Kilkenny Group Chief Executive Marian O’Gorman said the ideal is “a fantastic and exciting opportunity to further develop our authentic food, culture and Irish craft and design”. She added: “We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues and working with them.”
The previous owners, Mahmood and Iris Hussain, wished the group “every success” with the business, and said they were confident the move would benefit the local area.
“We would also like to thank our customers and visitors for supporting us throughout the years,” they said.
It is the second deal announced by Kilkenny in as many months. The company also acquired the Kilkenny Design Centre at the end of November. The centre has shops, galleries, a food hall and a restaurant and employs about 60 people.
