Kilkenny music venue and festival on shortlist of Ireland’s best
A Kilkenny venue and a local festival have been shortlisted for two coveted national live music awards.
The Set Theatre in Kilkenny city and Kilkenny Tradfest have been recognised by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and shortlisted in two categories.
The Set is nominated in Leinster’s Best Live Music Venue, while Kilkenny Tradfest picked up a nomination in the Best Small Festival category.
Both are up against some quite stiff competition, with Kilkenny Tradfest having to beat off the challenges of festivals such as Another Love Story, It takes a Village and Doolin Folk Festival to walk away with the prize.
The Set will have to overcome Dundalk’s Spirit Store, The Bridge House in Tulllamore, Kavanagh’s in Portlaoise and The Royal Meath in Navan to claim their title.
The IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year Awards 2019 will take place on Tuesday, February 11 at Twenty Two, South Anne Street in Dublin.
