THE DEFAMATION case between the company owning a Kilkenny newspaper and a Waterford Senator has been settled.
Senator Paudie Coffey brought Iconic Media, owners of the Kilkenny People, to court over an article published in January 2016.
In the statement released by solicitor Georgina Robinson on behalf of the Fine Gael Senator, it said: “Senator Coffey took the case to protect his family name.”
“My client wants to welcome the conclusion of this case today and the fact that we have reached an agreement to settle the case. Senator Coffey is pleased that Iconic Media have recognised his good name and reputation and he is a person of integrity.
“Senator Coffey is pleased that the Iconic Media Group has agreed to remove this article and any other reference to it, from all their associated websites and media platforms.”
