Kilkenny resident returned home to see burglar prowling in his back garden

A BURGLAR was spotted prowling around in the back garden of a home in Kilkenny city as they cased out the property.

The owner returned to his home in the Kilcreene area of the city at 10.30pm last Wednesday night to see an unknown male lurking in his garden.

He immediately contacted the gardai who arrived at the scene a short time later. Local gardai said they out an “extensive search” of the property and the surrounding area, but there was no sign of the suspect.

A Garda spokesperson said it appeared the suspect was casing out the property, most likely with a view to target it at a later date.

He urged anyone who noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
