Kilkenny taxpayers granted extension after Revenue’s pay and file system crashes
Kilkenny taxpayers have had their pay and file tax return deadline extended after the Revenue’s online system crashed due to “heavy usage volumes.”
Many taxpayers found when they went online earlier this afternoon, they could not file their returns, as the Revenue’s ROS system was down.
Now the deadline to file tax returns has been extended from midnight tonight to 6pm tomorrow, Wednesday, November 13.
Revenue apologised for the inconvenience and said: “With taxpayers and agents working towards a deadline of midnight tonight, 12 November, the ROS system has been experiencing very heavy usage volumes, with some 3,000 – 4,000 returns filed per hour throughout the morning.
“These volumes caused intermittent downtime for some of those using the ROS system and while it was still possible to file returns, the volume of submissions were less than expected.”
The tax collecting system is now operational. Revenue says some 70,000 taxpayers have yet to make their returns.
