Happy Click-mas! Kilkenny’s first ever online Christmas Market goes live

Kilkenny’s first ever online Christmas Market will go live shortly.

Kilenny Tourism, which is behind the initiative, said the local shopping platform will provide a “one stop-shop” for all types of seasonal gifts this Christmas.

The virtual market is championing Kilkenny’s retailers, craft makers, restaurants, hotels and food and drink producers by bringing customers’ favourite shops and gifts straight to their doors in the countdown to the festive season.

The online makret offers a variety of gifts from Kilkenny’s best loved and renowned craft makers from across the city and county. From stunning, bespoke cut glass pieces from Jerpoint and Duiske Glass to hand-crafted pottery with the Nicholas Mosse gift range and the ultimate selection of crafts from jewellery, knitwear and china courtesy of Kilkenny Design Centre.

For shoppers who want to send a loved one a gift of ‘something to look forward to’, the market offers a range of vouchers from hotels all over the county. Although they may be closed now, all hotels are offering gift vouchers on-line for that long awaited weekend or midweek break.

The market also offers ‘gifts for him’, ‘gifts for her’, children’s gifts, jewellery, accessories and food and wine.

A number of promotional offers will also be run by many of local businesses over the coming weeks, including a ‘Black Friday Blitz’ on November 27 when shoppers can avail of exclusive on-line discounts.

Kilkenny Tourism chairperson Brian Tyrell said: “Kilkenny Tourism is delighted to launch Kilkenny’s first on-line Christmas market. Now is the time we must champion our local retailers and shop local this Christmas. This online market is a direct response to the current lockdown and the increased reliance on on-line shopping this Christmas and is a sample of all the wonderful shops that await visitors when they next visit Kilkenny.

“We are looking forward to giving businesses a welcome boost in trade during the busy shopping season ahead.

“Our goal is to recreate the atmosphere of a real Traditional Christmas Market, but in a ‘virtual’ platform and showcase what a wide range of fantastically original products are available right here in Kilkenny!”
