Kilkenny’s Phil Hogan is appointed EU’s top trade negotiator

IRELAND’S EU Commissioner, the former Kilkenny TD Phil Hogan has finally been approved as the European Union’s new Trade Commissioner.
Hogan was approved by the European Parliament’s Trade Committee in Brussels yesterday.
The Kilkenny native said he is “honoured” to be approved.
“I therefore look forward to working very closely with EU Trade MEPs and the European Council.
“I hope to justify the trust they have placed in me to deliver on our shared agenda.”
Mr Hogan’s new role comes with a salary of €240,000 per annum.
