REVEALED: Kilkenny’s tidiest towns and villages

KILKENNY towns and villages picked up a gold medal and two silver medals at the 2019 Tidy Towns Awards announced this morning.
Kilkenny city won a gold medal, while the beautiful villages of Tullahought and Inistioge picked up silver awards at the national awards ceremony held in Dublin.
Kilkenny city, the 1985 and 2014 overall winner, was the tidiest town in County Kilkenny and came in just four points behind the overall national winner, Glaslough in Co Monaghan.
Ennis in county Clare, pipped Kilkenny city to win Ireland’s tidiest largest urban centre.
A further two points behind Kilkenny City were both Tullahought and Inistioge, who picked up a Silver Medal award for their efforts.
Tullahought also picked up the national Local Area Pollinator Award – small town category. Kilkenny city picked up the Pollinator Award for the largest urban centre.
The Nore Walk in Kilkenny received a runner-up award in the Sustainable Development Award, while Ballyragget won an Endeavour Award for being able to improve their mark by almost 5%.
