LATEST: Kilkenny among 543 new cases of virus as 16 further deaths confirmed
A further 16 people have died after contracting the coronavirus as 543 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.
The overall death toll as a result of the virus has now reached 4,534. There has now been 226,358 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).
The breakdown of the latest cases is as follows: 235 are in Dublin, 50 in Kildare, 39 in Donegal, 31 in Meath, 28 in Galway with the remaining 160 cases spread across 20 other counties, including five further infections in Kilkenny.
