LATEST: Kilkenny among 507 new cases of virus as 10 further deaths confirmed

There have been a further ten deaths recorded from people contracting the coronavirus as 507 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.

The overall death toll as a result of the virus has now reached 4,576. There have now been 229,306 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).

The breakdown of the latest cases is as follows: 216 were in Dublin, 40 were in Kildare, 29 were in Galway, 24 were in Offaly, 18 were in Tipperary, and the remaining 180 cases are spread across 20 other counties, once again less than five cases were recorded in Kilkenny.

As of 8am today, 336 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 87 are in ICU. There has been an additional 43 hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of March 16th, 632,359 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland.
