LATEST: Kilkenny among 473 new cases of virus as 34 further deaths confirmed
A further 34 people have died after contracting the coronavirus as 473 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.
The overall death toll as a result of the virus has now reached 4,769. There has now been 240,192 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).
The breakdown of the latest cases is as follows: 229 are in Dublin, 32 in Kildare, 21 in Mayo, 19 in Meath, 30 in Donegal and the remaining 142 cases are spread across 19 other counties. Less than five cases were recorded in Kilkenny.
Commenting on today’s figures, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said: “Anyone exposed to Covid-19 over the Easter weekend will now be at their most infectious – please isolate and contact your GP to arrange a test if you have any symptoms of Covid-19.”
