LATEST: Significant drop in Covid cases confirmed

The Department of Health has confirmed 10,753 PCR-positive cases and 4,208 antigen tests have been logged through the HSE portal, another considerable drop in cases on previous days.

And there has been a slight rise in the number of people with Covid-19 in hospital. As of 8am, there were 965 patients with the virus in hospital, an increase of 25 on the same time yesterday. However, the figure is 98 lower than the recent high of 1,063 people last Monday.

Meanwhile, the number of Covid patients in intensive care units remains relatively stable. As of 11.30am, there were 88 patients with the virus in ICU, down one on the same time yesterday.
