Less people in Kilkenny signing on dole now than when Covid hit: new figures
More than 130 people signed off the Live Register in Kilkenny last month, despite the recession brought on by the pandemic.
New figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) this morning reveal there are actually less people in Kilkenny on the live register now than when the Covid-19 crisis started in Ireland back in March of this year.
According to the latest CSO figures, there were 3,165 people in Kilkenny signing on at the end of September. This is down from 3,299 recorded at the end of August.
In March, when the pandemic kicked in, 3,275 people in Kilkenny were signing on the Live Register. This means 110 people less are signing on today.
Year-on-year, however, there are now 250 people more people on the register than in September 2019, when 2,951 people were signing on.
