Couple arrested after Kilkenny gardai discover heroin hidden under car bonnet

A MAN and a woman were arrested after Kilkenny gardai seized heroin and cannabis valued at €14,000 hidden under the bonnet of the car they were travelling in.

The pair were arrested after gardai from the Thomastown Traffic Unit stopped and searched a blue Audi in Ballytobin shortly after 5pm on Friday.

The driver attempted to flee the scene, but was subsequently captured and arrested, along with the female passenger.

They were taken to Thomastown Garda Station. The female passenger has since been released.

A file on the matter is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
