Minister visits Kilkenny to launch 40 new social homes in the city

Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien visited Kilkenny to formally open 40 new social and affordable homes in the city.

Minister O’Brien attended the launch of the Respond homes at Margaret’s Field on the Callan Road (Kilkenny) on Friday.

The homes have been built for general needs housing and have been acquired through Capital Advance Leasing Facility from the Department of Housing, Heritage and Local Government funding and private finance from the Housing Finance Agency, and in partnership with Kilkenny County Council under Rebuilding Ireland.

Respond spokesperson Niamh Randall said support from Government partners are essential to the work of Respond.

Ms Randall said: “We are pleased to continue working collaboratively with the Government to deliver social and affordable homes for families and individuals who need them.

“This new development provides 40 new social housing homes for 40 families and individuals who can create a community here and we hope they will be very happy. This development is only possible with the ongoing co-operation of our partners.

“We would like to thank Kilkenny County Council, the Department of Housing, Heritage and Local Government and the Housing Finance Agency. Our partners in Government are essential to us achieving our goals of delivering additional social homes and providing of services.

“We remain committed to playing our part building homes throughout the country and providing services for families and individuals who are in need.”
