More than 75 homes planned for new urban area in Kilkenny city

A new development of family homes has been announced for the emerging Western Environs of Kilkenny city

Developers Ormonde Homes Limited have applied to Kilkenny County Council looking for permission to build 77 new homes at a site in Poulgour.

The plans are for a mixed-development consisting of houses and apartments.

The development, built on a 3.2 hectare site, provides for the construction of 50 houses, four four-bed houses, 34 three-bed houses, four two-bed duplex houses and eight three-bed duplex house.

A five-storey apartment block consisting of 27 apartments would also be created under the plans. It would see the creation of nine one-bed apartments, 12 two-bed apartments and six three-bed apartments.

The development would create close to 6,000 sqm of public open space, 102 bicycle parking spaces and 140 car parking spaces.

A new pedestrian entrance would also be bulit within the existing stone wall at White Bridge.

A decision on the plans is expected from the local authority before the end of June.
